About Me
I am a seasoned CPA with a wide range of experience in public accounting, taxation and corporate finance. I have worked with individuals, business owners as well as corporate executives at Disney, Paramount Pictures, Nestle, Ticketmaster and Jam City.
Real estate investment and related tax issues are also my specialty. I have advised on 1031 exchanges, Delaware Statutory Trust and Section 721 UPREITS.
As a undergraduate and a MBA of two of most renowned business schools on the west coast—UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and USC’s Marshall School of Business—I bring a strong foundation of business acumen to tax and financial planning.
My background allows me to not only provide technical tax and finance expertise but also deliver strategic insights that help individuals and business owners to make smarter financial decisions, optimize resources, and plan with confidence for the future.
My “Keeping Things Simple” Approach
Keeping things simple has always been my approach to taxes and finances… and life in general! Let’s face it, there is just not enough time in a day to meet all the daily demands of life and I believe it is important to plan ahead and keep things simple so you can unburden yourself from managing your taxes and finances and free your bandwidth for other things that you love.
But… Simplicity is not being less mindful — it it is being mindful of less. It is not about cutting corners — it’s about cutting clutter. It is not the absence of sophistication; it’s the refinement of it. So every dollar has direction, and no energy is wasted.
A Candid Note About My Journey
Unlike many CPAs, I didn’t grow up dreaming of a career in accounting—truthfully, it found me more than I found it. From a young age, I aspired to become a computer engineer.
I was born and raised in Hong Kong. The education system requires good grades to get into science/engineering classes at an early age. My grades were not good enough to get into engineering classes, so I was instead relegated to the Arts curriculum to study literature, history, languages, and fine arts. I was disheartened and uncertain about my future. Then, a twist of fate. That same year, my high school introduced economics and accounting as part of the Arts curriculum. To my surprise, I excelled in both—along with math, they became the only subjects that I excelled in. Everything else? Nearly failing. Naturally, I leaned into where I found success, and that path led me to become a CPA.
My passion for computers and software never faded. I kept tinkering, learning, and exploring technology on my own. That continued curiosity turned out to be an incredible asset in my CPA career, allowing me to integrate tech and tools seamlessly into financial workflows and analysis.
“Simplicity turns finances from a burden into a quiet confidence.”
